Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

Your future team

You will join the Data Science team composed of 40+ Data scientists and Machine Learning Engineers. You will work in an international environment, collaborating with colleagues across disciplines to deliver end-to-end data and AI products used globally.
You will report to a Chapter Lead France and this position is located in Lyon. We are looking for several permanent positions in this location.

What you will do :

At Volvo Group Digital Technology & Operations (DTO), you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large.
In this role, you will lead the engineering of production-grade machine learning solutions, from understanding real business needs to industrializing, operating, and continuously improving ML and AI products at scale.
You will design, build, deploy, and operate ML and AI products with strong engineering practices, including CI/CD, monitoring, and robust model and feature management.
You will help ensure long-term performance by monitoring drift and partnering with the business to decide when and how to improve pipelines.
You will also apply NLP and LLM approaches for e.g. classification use cases, while designing solutions that meet security, governance, and regulatory requirements.
As a tech lead you will take leadership and responsibility of an AI product working with a team of Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and other data professionals.

Who are you?

Do you dream big? We do too, and we are excited to grow together. In this role, you will bring:

Requirements:

Tech:
• Deep understanding of statistics, probability and machine learning - with a relevant academic degree in a quantitative field, such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, or physics.
• Proven experience managing the full lifecycle of AI and ML software, including, among others, CI/CD, modularized architecture, orchestration, quality assurance, and monitoring.
• Ability to manage and industrialize applications based on advanced deep learning techniques and foundational models.
• Extensive experience of programming in relevant languages and software management (Git).

• Experience of relevant tools (non-exhaustive):
• CI/CD e.g. Azure Pipelines, Github Actions
• Containerization & orchestration e.g. Docker, Podman, Terraform

Product management:
• Previous experience of managing and owning AI products along with industrialization and commercialization in regulated environments.
Domain experience of vehicle data, diagnostics, telematics, manufacturing, or warranty analytics would be meriting.
• Technical leadership experience, guiding cross-functional teams to design, build, and deliver AI products

Communication and stakeholder management:
• Clear communication skills in English and preferably also in the local language, and the ability to collaborate across cultures and time zones.

What's in it for you?

We offer a solid package of compensation and benefits, plus you will enjoy:
• A role where you can create measurable impact through Data and AI, including contributions to sustainability goals
• A collaborative, international community with 900+ data colleagues across seven countries
• Strong opportunities to grow through global, cross-functional work and end-to-end product ownership
