Job Title: Accelerator Staff Software Engineer

• Location: Lyon
• Hybrid: 60% office based, 40% remote
• Permanent, Fulltime

About the job

Help bring new medicines to patients faster. As a Staff Software Engineer in our Manufacturing & Supply (M&S) Accelerator, you'll set technical direction across multiple teams, proactively remove blockers, build scalable and reliable platforms, and coach engineers to deliver with speed, quality, and compliance. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who drives change with user outcomes in mind.

Main responsibilities:

Scope & impact:

• Serves as a technical leader and role model within the engineering organization
• Shapes technical direction for complex systems and ensures scalable, maintainable architectures
• Leads initiatives that impact multiple teams and domains across the M&S Accelerator
• Identifies leverage points to unlock exponential productivity gains for the organization

Prioritization & execution:

• Owns technical decisions for critical projects, ensuring delivery on deadlines and quality standards
• Anticipates challenges and proactively resolves bottlenecks
• Works across teams to align execution with organizational strategy and priorities
• Balances pragmatism with technical excellence to accelerate delivery
• Ensure data-driven decision-taking

Technical excellence:

• Designs and builds robust software solutions for research workflows and data analysis
• Establishes and enforces technical standards, patterns, and best practices across teams
• Develops deep expertise in cloud-native systems, microservices, APIs, and security
• Champions CI/CD, DevOps principles, and cloud infrastructure as code

Coaching & mentorship:

• Mentors senior engineers, enabling them to take on greater ownership and leadership
• Promotes a culture of engineering excellence, knowledge sharing, and innovation
• Encourages open dialogue where team members feel safe to share ideas and learn from mistakes
• Contributes to talent growth by participating in hiring and career development

Leadership & collaboration:

• Acts as a bridge across engineering, product, and scientific teams to ensure alignment and results
• Advocates for best engineering practices and drives adoption across domains
• Collaborates with peers and leaders to shape technical strategy for the Accelerator
• Represents engineering in discussions with external partners and vendors

About you

Your background:

• Significant experience in software engineering (or equivalent knowledge). If you feel qualified, apply regardless of years of experience!
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience is a plus
• Experience in an innovative, fast-paced environment
• Proven track record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring senior engineers

Technical requirements:

• Experience in JavaScript / TypeScript (Node.js)
• Experience in React or similar frameworks
• Proficiency with CI/CD practices and modern DevOps principles
• Proficiency with microservice architectures, API design, and cloud security best practices
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, or similar) with experience in one or more of the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
